"Helping Young People Learn to Love the Outdoors"

How it started:

The Wilderness Skills Fund was established by Dutch Barhydt at the Connecticut Community Foundation in appreciation of his grandparents, Robert and Grace Williamson, and all people who practice a love of the outdoors, and who, by example, pass this love on to succeeding generations.

The income from this endowed fund will provide financial support to area high school and college students who wish to participate in any overnight, wilderness program offered by Outward Bound or The Student Conservation Association.
